    Patriotic Celebration

Empire Day, a day of patriotic celebration, was first celebrated by the Dundas School Board in 1898. It began when Mrs. Clementine Fessenden, a local Hamilton woman, suggested to the Dundas School Board a celebratory Flag Day. The Board supported the idea and Dundas schools celebrated their first Empire Day in October, 1898.
